psychodynamic therapy

Psychotherapy is a confidential, collaborative process that helps you understand your inner world: your emotions, patterns, memories, and relational dynamics, so you can live with greater freedom and authenticity. Rather than offering quick and superficial fixes, therapy provides a structured space where you can slow down, notice what is happening inside, and make sense of the experiences that have shaped you, accompanied by an experienced guide. In psychodynamic therapy especially, the work centers on uncovering the deeper roots of recurring struggles, exploring how early relationships and unconscious emotional patterns continue to influence your present life. It is a thoughtful, honest, and compassionate exploration of your story, and one that allows for real, lasting change.

Another term of psychodynamic therapy is “depth therapy.” Because psychodynamic therapy aims not only to manage symptoms but to transform the underlying patterns that generate them, it is often a longer and more meaningful process than other modes of therapy. Many people experience noticeable symptom relief within the first few months, as new insights and emotional capacities begin to take shape. But depending on the nature of your particular difficulties, durable, character-level change in the form of meaningfully greater emotional resilience, a stronger and more coherent sense of self, and more stable and satisfying relationships typically unfolds over a period of one to two years of work (around 40 sessions on average). This is the nature of taking deep healing seriously. If you are open to engaging this journey of discovery and transformational change with patience and curiosity, psychodynamic therapy offers a profound opportunity to reshape your life from the inside out.

I am happy to accommodate online sessions or in-person sessions at either of my Denver or Arvada offices, depending on your preference.

I am not able to accept insurance for psychotherapy at this time. However, most insurance companies will reimburse for out-of-network providers by means of a “superbill,” which I am able and happy to supply for you, if you should want that.
